Capitol councilor kills former barangay chairman

IBA - Municipal councilor of this town shot dead Tuesday evening a former barangay chair while they were at the parking lot of Villa Veneranda in Barangay Lipay-Dingin this town.
Chief Inspector Remegio Magno, Iba police station chief, identified the victim as Noel Dait, 43, a former barangay captain of Liozon, Palauig, Zambales.
Responding policemen brought the victim at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital who was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians owing to two gunshot wounds at his chest and armpit from a .40-caliber pistol fired by suspect identified as Danny Balesteros, 54, a resident of Barangay Amungan, Iba.
Reports said that at about 11:45 p.m. the suspect shot the victim at close range when he saw the victim at the parking lot of Villa Veneranda Restaurant.
Initial investigation disclosed that an old grudge triggered the shooting.
Reports further stated that earlier, the suspect had filed a case on act of lasciviousness against the victim that is still pending in court.
Police officers patrolling the area arrested the suspect and detained him at the Iba detention cell facing a charge of murder.
