4 held for P.5-M marijuana

OLONGAPO City ` Some P500,000 worth of high grade marijuana bricks were confiscated by operatives of the Drug Enforcement Group of the Olongapo City police from four suspected drug syndicate members during an entrapment in Purok 6, Barangay New Cabalan here Saturday afternoon.
City police director Senior Supt. Florencio Buentipo, Jr. identified the suspects as Andres Tudlong, 43, and Israel Baydon, 33, both of Bontoc, Mountain Province; Pablo Martinez, Sr, 42; and Pablo, Jr., 16, both of San Pablo, Dinalupihan, Bataan. Policemen led by Senior Insp.
Leo Batinga arrested Tudlong and Baylon at 12 noon after they delivered 10-kilos of marijuana bricks to a DEG poseur buyer. The confiscation was the biggest so far by the Olongapo City police in 10 years.
DEG investigator PO3 Allan delos Reyes said Martinez and his son yielded 20-kilos of marijuana bricks when collared by the lawmen.
Reyes said the suspects who are operating in Zambales, Bataan and Olongapo City had been under surveillance for almost a week before their arrest. The suspects face charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Mayor James Gordon lauded the city police for their accomplishment.
