Groundbreaking of Hanjin Subic Shipyard Project

A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning at the Redondo Peninsula, Sitio Agusuhin, Cawag, Subic, Zambales.

The project owned by Hanjin Heavy Industries Inc. (HHIC) is located at Green Beach One, Redondo Peninsula, Subic Bay Freeport Zone. It has a total lot area of 2,322,020 square meters. It will have two units of 600 Ton Gantry Cranes and two units of 60Ton J/Cranes.
The Quay Wall is set at 1,850 meters with 2 units of 60 Ton J/Crane complements. 52 Buildings will be constructed with total floor area of 156,684 square meters. It is expected to be completed by December 31, 2007 spending PhP15,065,400,000.00

The project designer is SHINHAN Architects and Engineers, and Korea Engineering Consults Corp. HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd will build the facility.

HHIC Chairman Nam Ho Cho welcomed the guest in his remarks while SBMA Chairman Fil Salonga congratulated HANJIN for its initiative to invest in SBF.

A solemn ritual followed the groundbreaking activity. The ritual is specially important for HANJIN and local leaders since this is where they offer prayers to ensure the safety of the workers.

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. of Olongapo gave his offers and prayed for the safety of the workers who will be employed by HANJIN.
