1,500 casino staff face loss of jobs

SOME 1,500 employees of the Legenda Casino and Hotel inside the Subic Bay Freeport in Olongapo City will soon become jobless.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) closed down the establishment two weeks ago.
The employees appealed to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for speedy resolution of the case between PAGCOR and Legenda Hotel.
The Legenda management has informed the employees that it will soon be forced to let them go because about 90% of its finances come from the operation of its casino that has been closed.

PAGCOR revoked the gaming license of Legenda for its failure to pay the government more than P365mn in license fees.
