2 holdup men nabbed

OLONGAPO CITY – Police arrested two men posing as Sangguniang Kabataan chairmen for robbing a student here Wednesday.

City police director Senior Supt. Angelito Pacia identified the suspects as Jancel Mendoza, 21, and Eric Dela Cruz, 27, both of 96-8th Avenue, Daang Bakal, Caloocan City.

Probers said the suspects approached Sheila, 15 (not her real name) inside the Olongapo City Mall and introduced themselves as SK chairmen. They then sweet talked her until she agreed to go with them.

But when they reached the back of Columban College, the suspects pulled out a knife and asked Sheila to yield her cellphone and money.

During a follow-up operation, Mendoza and Dela Rosa were arrested at a checkpoint in Barangay Cabalan by a team led by Police Station 1 commander Senior Insp. Cesar Cabling and PO3 Melvin Sapno of the Traffic Enforcement Group. Recovered from the suspects were a knife and the victim’s cellphone.

The suspects were detained at Police Station 1 detenrion cell. They will be charged with robbery with tention cell. They will be charged with robbery with intimidation and violation of the Child Abuse law.
