Jalandoni grabs TRS Novice Cup driver slot
Jed Jalandoni bested other young aspiring racers to emerge the champion of the 5th TRS-C! Magazine Top Driver Challenge recently at the Subic International Raceway.
Jalandoni, a 19-year-old from Bacolod and a student of College of Saint Benilde, stood out among the five finalists as the unanimous choice of the instructor-judges.
For his victory, Jalandoni qualified for a slot in the Ford Focus Novice Cup, scheduled Nov. 23-24 and organized by Tuason Racing School (TRS) in Subic.
“I can’t believe I came out as the winner since I raced against more experienced drivers,” Jalandoni said. “I guess my advantage was I personally drove a Ford Focus, so I was well aware of its handling capabilities.”
The race drivers were chosen by TRS founder and racing champion JP Tuason after completing the basic and advanced circuit car training at the Subic raceway.
They were later given lapping sessions on the racetrack wherein participants practiced with a TRS mentor aboard. -- Inquirer
