Robert Wayne Neely May 5, 1962-Oct. 29, 2007

Robert Wayne Neely. age 45, USN-Ret., formerly of Dundee and Ann Arbor, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at Barangay, San Miguel, San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines.

He was born May 5, 1962, at Annapolis Hospital in Wayne, Michigan, to WIlliam E. Neely and Betty Jean Copley.

He served in the US Navy for 28 years. When he retired, he was a Master Diver and Senior Chief in rank. At one time during his career he was one of only 72 Master Divers in the United States Navy. He was last stationed at Guam.

Survivors include two sons, Joshua Steven Neely of Kentucky and Timmi Nicol of Guam, a daughter, Bobby Jean (B.J.) Smith of Florida, his mother and stepfather, Betty J. and Ronald Gillum of Dundee, and his father and stepmother, William and Arleen Neely Sr. of Grass Lake, Michigan, brothers Gary, Billy, Kyle, Ronnie and Eddie, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, friends and fellow Navy career men.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 - 8 PM at Cover Funeral Home in Dundee. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 12, 2007, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Military services will be conducted by the Dundee Veterans Memorial Group. His uncle, David Stewart of Tennessee, will officiate. Burial will take place in Union Udell Cemetery in Ypsilanti Township.

Memorials may be made to Retired Veterans or to the family
