Zambales mayor asked to leave post
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales--A judge here ordered San Antonio Mayor Romeo Lonzanida to vacate his post for violating the term limit rule of the Omnibus Election Code.
In a decision issued Nov. 27, Judge Consuelo Bocar of the regional trial court here found that Lonzanida was mayor of San Antonio from 1988 to the present. The case against Lonzanida arose from a complaint from three town residents that he was disqualified from running in the May 14 elections because he had exceeded his term limit.
Bocar named Vice Mayor Lugil Ragadio as mayor until 2010 instead of the losing candidate, Dr. Estella Antipolo, following the law of succession. Inquirer Central Luzon Desk
