OLONGAPEÑOS CELEBRATE OVER PACMAN’S VICTORY

Olongapeños led by Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. and Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Marie Gordon celebrated Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s victory in his fight against Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez last Mach 15, 2008 at Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Olongapeños shouted with joy atop their lungs when Pacquiao was announced as the new WBC Super Featherweight Champion grabbing the title from the Mexican Marquez. “Muling pinatunayan ng ‘Pambansang Kamao’ ang kanyang galing sa boksing. Makikitang sa bawat suntok na pinakawalan ni Pacman ay punong puno ito ng determinasyon at hangaring mapagwagian ang titulo laban sa kalaban,” Mayor Gordon said.

To manifest the city’s support for the ‘People’s Champ’, Mayor Gordon organized a free viewing of Pacman’s fight in a ‘giant screen’ at Olongapo City Convention Center (OCCC) last March 16, 2008.

About three thousand (3,000) boxing fanatics in the city crowded in OCCC to witness the most awaited boxing fight of the year.

Through Dr. Donald Vigo, coordinator of the Pazquiao-Marquez brawl at OCCC, Colorview Catv’s HBO pay-per-view and Ocampo’s Olongapo, the said sports project initiated by Mayor Gordon was made even more successful with Pacman’s victory over Marquez.

More than three thousand (3,000) Olongapeños crowded the Olongapo City Convention Center (OCCC) to witness the most awaited boxing fight of the year dubbed as ‘’Pacquiao-Marquez II Unfinished Business’’ last March 16, 2008.
