Olongapo cops still could not search shabu suspect's house
OLONGAPO CITY, Philippines - A full week since some P4.2 billion worth of shabu was seized here in one of the biggest drug haul in the country, authorities appeared to be slow in going after its primary suspect.
Task Force Subic Deputy Director Edmund Arrugay admitted that they have yet to file for an issuance of a warrant to search the home of principal suspect Anthony Ang, which is located just several meters from a police station and the City Hall of Justice.
For his part, Olongapo City police chief Abelardo Villacorta admitted that without such a warrant, police operatives and members of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) are limited to monitoring the outside premises of Ang's home at 50 Davidson St. in Olongapo City, and could not enter the residence.
"Hindi pa natin mapasok yung bahay dahil wala pang search warrant, pero bantay sarado ang bahay kasama ng mga ahente ng Task Force Subic at PDEA (We still could not enter the house because we don't have a search warrant yet. But agents oft Task Force Subic have been tightly guarding the surroundings)," Villacorta said.
Police suspect more shabu packages are being kept inside Ang's house, based on information obtained from local residents whom Ang used to hire to unload his shipment of cigarettes and liquor. - GMANews.TV
