Olongapo City, Philippines - Authorities on Monday filed charges against 15 individuals said to be involved in the smuggling of some P4.2 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu into the country last week.

Those charged were identified as Enrique Ong, Rolando Labanderos, Anthony "Anton" Ang, Estrella Ang, Harry Yao, Robert Lee, Rudy Chua, Chi Chan Cheng, Cai Wencong, Jou Jonq Rong, Yang Tren Yen, Jau Jer Woei, Wu Jia Duo, No Lil Lin and Li Jin.

Of the 15, only Enrique Ong and Rolando Labanderos are currently in police custody. All the others are still at large.

This was revealed by Edmund Arugay, deputy director of Task Force Subic, who said that they have filed charges against the 15 before the Olongapo City prosecutor's office on Monday afternoon.

The 15 were accused of violating Sections 4,5,11 in relations to Section 26 Article 2 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Olongapo City police chief Sr. Supt. Abelardo Villacorta said that his men are participating in the manhunt for the other suspects.

Ang, suspected to be the mastermind behind the shipment of the illegal drugs, was able to escape authorities after the discovery of around 770 kilos of high grade shabu that was seized inside his Mitsubishi Outlander with plate number RAE-615.

Another Toyota Hi Ace Van with 60 boxes of the same item was confiscated inside the warehouse of Ang's company, Hua Long International, inside the Subic Bay Industrial Park. - GMANews.TV
