OLONGAPO’S POLICE FORCE WIN AWARDS
Olongapo City continues its winning streak with another regional award recognizing the efforts of the city’s police force. The Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) formally presented to Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr., the two (2) trophies they recently received on September 1, 2008 at the flag raising ceremony at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center.
The OCPO bagged the award for Best Police Community Relations (PCR) Branch- City Police Office Level while SPO4 Regino Dato was awarded ‘Best Senior Police Non-Commission Officer (PNCO)’ for the eight (8) time.
The awards were given recently at Camp Olivas, San Fernando, Pampanga in observance of the celebration of 13th Police Community Relations Month. As the regional winner, the city will represent the region for the national competition.
The OCPO, headed by Col Abelardo Villacorta, thanked Mayor Gordon’s unwavering support and his unrelenting efforts to uphold the peace and order in the city.
It can be recalled that a number of seminars and trainings were held to strengthen the peacekeeping force of the city. On June, the first batch of SWAT Policemen graduated through a training given by the city government of Olongapo.
Also on May, a peace keeping training was also held for over seven hundred (700) delegates including barangay officials, civic and non-government organizations.
“These awards prove na Olongapo is on its way to become a model city,” said Mayor Gordon. “Pagbutihin pa natin na panatilihin ang maayos na peace and order situation ng lungsod.”
