‘GAPO 10-BALL BILLIARDS WINNER TO JOIN PHILIPPINE POOL TOUR

The first Subic-Olongapo Open Pool Championship will kick off via the 2009. Philippine Pool Tour that will be held at the Olongapo City Convention Center on April 21 to 23. The Subic-Olongapo Open will be hosted jointly by the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Olongapo City government.

As part of its preparations, Mayor James Gordon, Jr. recently launched a 10-ball billiards tournament for the residents of Olongapo City and Zambales which was held at Jordan Billiards hall on March 28-29, 2009.

Daniel Dela Rosa emerged as the champion, winning one of two slots as the city’s representative to the 2009 Philippine Pool Tour Edmund Geronimo, 1st runner-up, LJ “Eugene” Alipoon, 2nd runner-up, and Bill Jerry Inot, 3rd runner-up. The winners received cash prizes plus trophies.

Scores of foreign delegates are expected at the Subic-Olongapo Open because of the tourist attractions of Olongapo City which include fine beaches, night life , shopping and other attractions.

Among the competitors who will join the event are current World No. 1 Ralf Soquet, Filipino national champion Marlon Manalo, world juniors champion Ko Pin Yi, and former world champion Thorsten Hohmann.

The summer event is open to all players, Filipino and foreigners, professional and amateur, male and female. It offers a prize fund of $30,000, with $10,000 and a trophy for the champion.
