The Olongapo city government and selected schools and establishments in the city were among the participants in the Simultaneous Nationwide Earthquake Drill on February 27, 2009.

The ceremonial venue were various grounds around the city simultaneous with earthquake drills nationwide at exactly 8:30 in the morning.

Evaluators of the earthquake drill in the city were Police Superintendent Dexter Rellorca, Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Administrator Edward Buena, City Engineering CEO Narciso Martinez, Engineer Frances Eduarte, DMO Deputy Chief Glenly Monje, Olongapo Civil Security and Safety Unit Jay Cortes and DMO Chief Angie Layug.
