Cattle rustling suspect falls

IBA, Zambales – the activities of leader of a notorious cattle rustlers here have ended finally after he was nabbed in “black scorpion” operation Thursday, police said.

Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO) director Senior Supt. Rolando Felix identified the suspect as Freddie Cudal y Baysa, 49, resident of Bgy. Bangantalinga, Iba, who is said to be the 6th most wanted person in the province and carries a P150,000 bounty on his head.

Cudal nicknamed :King” by his companions, reportedly leads a syndicate of cattle rustlers composed mostly of Aetas that victimized farmers in at least five northern Zambales towns namely: Masinloc., Palauig, Iba, Botolan and Cabangan.

Reports said the syndicate specializes in chopping down of carabaos and cows’ head right in the middle of rice fields or areas where they are left grazing by the owners. Their hot meat were sold to different market outlets in various southern Zambales towns and Olongapo City.

The vicious acts of Cudal and cohortd came to fore when they allegedly wounded and almost killed a farmer owner in Bgy. Sta. Barbara, Iba, who allegedly caught them butcher his cattle.

Cudal isnow facing cases of robbery with frustrated homicide and attempted homicide under case no. 4775-I at the Regional Trial Court here.

Follow-up operations are still continuing against the other member of the robbery group.

Meanwhile, farmer residents in the area lauded the police for the capture and neutralization of the syndicate leader who has made their lives difficult in the last 10 years.
