SBMA Move Forward for Extension outside Subic

SBMA (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority) is now pushing for the development of the Subic-Clark growth corridor to expand the business spaces in the free port. The area comprised of parts of the provinces of Zambales, Bataan and Pampanga.

SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza pointed out that developing additional industrial estate along the Subic-Clark corridor can resolve the limited area for industrial use in Subic.

Arreza said that there is much available land along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway (SCTEx) that is largely idle.

Moreover, apart from the land along the SCTEx, he said SBMA's expansion plan also considers the development of areas in the nearby communities of Olongapo City, Subic town in Zamabales and those of Morong, Hermosa and Dinalupihan in Bataan. SBMA expansion calls for the development of more parks and leisure resorts in the coastal barangay of Minanga in Morong, the Cawag area in Subic town and barangay Barreto in Olongapo City as tourists resort destinations.

Arreza said that those areas would be ideal for large manufacturing operations, which would also create volume of goods needed for Subic and Clark to become globally competitive logistic centers. Written by Loren - mybataan.com
