OLONGAPO CITY, HALL OF FAME AWARDEE OF REGIONAL GAWAD KALASAG

Two more awards add up to the city’s collection of honors.

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. extended his commendations to the members of the Olongapo City Disaster Coordinating Council at the flag raising ceremonies held last August 3, 2009 at the Rizal Triangle Covered Court.

“I am very proud to announce that Olongapo City is now a Hall of Fame Awardee of the Regional Gawad Kalasag,” Mayor Gordon expressed, in relation to the Plaque of Recognition received by the city at Camp Olivas on July 28, 2009.

The Regional Gawad Kalasag is given yearly to local government units for exemplary disaster risk preparedness and management. Olongapo City garnered the award for three consecutive years. The win earned for Olongapo City the right to represent Region 3 in the national level of the Gawad Kalasag Awards.

Aside from the recognition, the Olongapo City Fire Rescue Team (OCFRT) also received a Certificate of Appreciation for the group’s assistance in the Search and Rescue/Recovery Operations of trapped miners in Itogon, Benguet.

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon receives the Plaque of Recognition from Central Luzon Police Director Chief Superintendent Leonilo dela Cruz for Olongapo City’s Disaster Coordinating Council’s elevation to the Gawad Kalasag Hall of Fame Regional Award.
