(AHN) - The U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier George Washington is in Manila Wednesday for a five-day goodwill visit with its crew providing community and humanitarian service to the local people.

The massive ship manned by 6,000 sailors arrived at the Manila Bay Tuesday and its American troops will plant trees, build a public high school library and visit a hospital in the Philippine capital until Saturday.

The George Washington, part of the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet based in Japan, is the first U.S. aircraft carrier visiting Manila in 13 years. About 300 of its crew have roots in the Philippines.
