MAYOR BONG GIVES OUT CASH INCENTIVES TO CLRAA WINNERS

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. has ordered the Division Sports Coordinator to distribute cash rewards to the winners of the recent Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet.

In the recently held CLRAA, the Division of Olongapo City won 28 gold, 26 silver and 44 bronze medals.

Gold medalists will receive P3,000.00 silver medalists P2,000 and bronze medalists will take home P1,000 pesos.

“This serves as an open encouragement to our athletes. We hope that all of the winners will continue to bring honors in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa in Tarlac City,” Mayor Gordon said, stressing that the City Government will be up in supporting the representatives to the national games to be held in Tarlac City on April 10-17, 2010.

Mayor Gordon said that further incentives will be given to athletes who could bring more honor to the city in the upcoming games.

He said that he has instructed Division Sports Coordinator Saturnino Dumlao and the City Sports and Youth Committee to start the training of athletes for the next CLRAA Meet in 2011 and this year’s national games.

The city is expecting to maintain its position as among the top three in the CLRAA rankings.

Olongapo City ranks third in the 2010 over-all CLRAA rankin.
Mayor Bong gave cash incentives to the winners of the CLRAA games along with their coaches.

27 athletes from the Olongapo City delegation were also recommended to represent Central Luzon in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa set in April at Tarlac Recreational Park San Jose, Tarlac City.

“This shows that Olongapeños are naturally skilled and talented. Our role as leaders includes providing them with the right resources and opportunities to utilize and enhance these skills and talents. This is one of the several reasons why the Olongapo City Government never hesitated in investing in programs and facilities that could improve the potential of its citizens,” said Mayor Bong.

Councilor Rodel Cerezo, City Sports and Youth Chairman, said that Olongapo’s success in the CLRAA is a manifestation of the good sporting programs of the city and the abundance of talents of the youth in various sporting events.
