2 construction workers buried alive in Olongapo

Two construction workers were killed after the ground at their construction site gave way due to heavy rains in Olongapo City in Zambales province Monday.

A report on dzXL radio Tuesday cited initial police reports identifying the fatalities as Gilbert Dalisay, 38; and Ronnie Lastivada, 22.

Rescued from the site was Edmar de Guia, 19.

Initial investigation showed the incident occurred at Kalaklan village in Olongapo City, where the victims were working at a construction site.

Heavy rains caused the ground under them to soften and collapse, and the victims were buried under 10 to 12 feet of mud.

De Guia was rushed to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital for treatment, the report said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
