MAYOR GORDON: ‘’Major Developments Made Possible Because The Mayor And The Council Are United And In One Direction.’’

At the culmination ceremonies of the Olongapo City Council, Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Council and its members for the indomitable support they have given his administration and the projects and programs they have carried out, ‘’I would like to thank the City Council for passing legislations that supports the thrust of my administration which includes the H.E.L.P.S program, infrastructure projects, tourism and business development.’’

Because of the harmonious working relationship between Mayor Bong Gordon and members of the foregoing Sangguniang Panlungsod, they were able to pass a great deal of resolutions and ordinances. All resolutions and ordinances passed were connected with Mayor Gordon’s H.E.L.P.S. Program or Health & Housing, Environment, Labor, Livelihood, Peace and Order, Social Services and Sports which were finely implemented and administered by the executive branch of the local government.

‘’Major developments were made possible because the Mayor and the Council are united and in one direction. Nagpapakita ito na kung maganda ang samahan ang taong-bayan ang makikinabang,’’ added Mayor Gordon.

The said major developments include the sealed deals with Ayala Development, SM (Shoe Mart), Cephalco for power generation and the Sister-City Agreement between Olongapo and Guam, even with Russia and Gumi. ‘’This are developments that would generate jobs and uplift the welfare of the people of Olongapo,’’ expounded the mayor.
Mayor Gordon also commended the City Council for the recognition and honor it has given the city for winning the title “The Most Outstanding Sanggunian-Highly Urbanizd Category” from 2007 to 2009 in Region 3 and finished 3rd Place in the national level.

‘’Let us hand on hand continue what we have started. Let not bad politics nor personal agenda hinder what we have started. This may be called End Term Ceremony, but this is not the end, but a journey in the midstream that became daunting and arduous. Let us together go forward, not for us, but for our people, for the future of Olongapo,’’ Mayor Gordon concluded.

Mayor Bong Gordon delivers his message during the End Term Ceremonies of the Sangguniang Panlungsod on July 29, 2010 at the FMA Hall of City Hall.
