CAMPAIGN PERIOD STARTS FOR BARANGAY AND SK ELECTIONS

The campaign period for the barangay and SK elections in the 17 barangays of Olongapo City has commenced. The candidates have been given ten (10) days to campaign in their respective barangays from October 14 to October 23, 2010, two (2) days before the election.

Based on the official list of Comelec Olongapo, there are 64 candidates for Barangay chair and 59 for SK Chairman. Meanwhile, a total of 603 are vying for Barangay Kagawad and 286 for SK Kagawad.

The election for barangay leaders and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials on October 25 is all systems go.

The last barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections were held in Oct. 29, 2007.

Meanwhile, the liquor ban in connection with the barangay and SK elections is in force and effect on October 24 until 25, 2010 along with the gun ban already in place.
