5 missing Subic fishermen land in Vietnam

SUBIC, ZAMBALES --Five fishermen reported missing by the Philippine Coast Guard station here since January 24, 2011 are now in Vietnam after they were rescued by Vietnamese fishing vessels.

They were identified as Regino Suico, 31; Naptalie Surbano, 45; Remy Joy Jiray, 38; Alfredo Mangubat, 41; and Diego Abano, 24, all residents of Purok 6, Bgy. Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales.

The victims were on board M/B CAP V when their banca capsized due to big waves and strong winds. Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Lt. Commander Armand Balilo said they have already contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs for the return of the fishermen.

The fishermen are now in the custody of Maritime Rescue Coordinating Council in Hanoi.

The five fishermen, who are all in good condition, are now staying at the Tuy Hoa Hotel in Phu Yen province. Mamer BaƱez -.journal.com.ph
