One of the most promising and bankable actors of his generation,Gerald Anderson, will finally step back from the outrageously bright lights and goody-goody roles shone into him by the Mainstream industry. After the success of his TV series “Budoy” where he played a mentally challenged young man who seeks for love and acceptance, Gerald will portray yet another offbeat character on his first ever independent film with a working title “EL BRUJO“.
“Sana maibigay ko ang talagang gusto ni Direk para sa role ko. Nu’ng basahin ko ang script, eh, talagang ako mismo, eh, napapahanga sa role ko rito. Kung nagustuhan ninyo ang role ko bilang si Budoy, dito naman kakaiba rin ito,” said Gerald Anderson in an interview.
El Brujo is an upcoming indie action film starring Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca and Bangs Garcia. It is directed by Tikoy Aguiluz, the controversial (yet uncredited) director of last years’ Metro Manila Film Festival Entry “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story“. With Director Tikoy Aguiluz at helm we maybe able to see an arthouse action film production that boasts of excellent cinematography, well-choreographed fight scenes, decent acting wrapped in a story that will revive the action genre in Philippine Cinema.
MovPix Productions with JM Productions Olongapo released a behind the scene footage of El Brujo! Watch the intense high-leaping, beach dragging and heart-pumping action sequences that features Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca. The two have previously worked together in the romance action tv series “Tayong Dalawa” and they seem immune to the action genre already.
