BARANGAY PEACEKEEPING TRAINING PROGRAM MATAGUMPAY NA GINANAP

Pitongdaang (700) barangay officials, civic and non-government organizations ang nakakompleto ng pagsasanay kaugnay sa “Barangay Peacekeeping Operation Training Program” kamakailan na isinagawa ng Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) at ng Pamahalaang Lokal ng Lungsod sa pangunguna ni City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr.

Umikot ang pagsasanay sa temang “PULIS AT BARANGAY tungo sa Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Kasaganahan ng Mamamayan.”

Ang training na ito ay bahagi ng programa ng Punong Lungsod upang mapanatili ang “peace and order” ng buong Olongapo.

Naniniwala si Mayor Gordon na mahalaga na makilahok ang mga opisyal ng barangay upang magkaroon pa ng mas higit na kaalaman kung paano mapanatili ang katahimikan ng kani-kanilang lugar. Ayon pa sa Punong Lungsod mas mag-iibayo ang tiwala ng mga mamamayan ng Olongapo sa mga opisyales ng kanilang barangay sa ganitong paraan.

Ipinaliwanag ni Olongapo City Police Director Senior Supt. Avelardo Villacorta na maliban sa nabahagian nila ng kaalaman ang mga barangay officials mas napapalakas pa nito ang pag-aagapayan o pagtutulungan ng city government at mga barangay officials sa paglutas ng krimen.

Ayon pa kay Supt. Villacorta ang pagsasanay na ito ay bahagi ng programang pinangalanang “Project Kabisig”. Layunin nitong gawing “force multipliers” ang mga opisyales ng barangay at iba pang organisasyon ng lungsod.

Dagdag pa ni Brgy. Baretto Captain at Association of Barangay Chairmen President Carlito Baloy, malaking tulong ang training na ito sa kani-kanilang mga barangay.

Matatandaang ipinag-utos ni Mayor Bong Gordon ang pagsasanay na ito upang lalo pang mapanatili ang peace and order ng buong lungsod. Nais din ni Mayor Gordon na gawing modelo ng ibang barangay ang Brgy. Baretto na tumanggap ng pinakamataas na pagkilala mula kay Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ng tanghalin ito bilang Hall of Famer at National awardee ng prestiyosong Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) para sa Highly Urbanized Cities ng buong bansa sa taong 2007.

Liga ng mga Barangay Officers Take Oath of office

The officers of the Liga ng mga Barangay – Olongapo Chapter took their oath of office in front of the city officials and employees this January 2, 2008 at Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Covered Court.

Mayor Bong Gordon administered the oath taking of the officers who were elected by the Barangay Chairmen of Olongapo themselves.

For the second time, Barangay Chairman Carlito Baloy of Brgy. Barretto has been elected as the president. Baloy will again serve as the voice and representative of the seventeen barangays of Olongapo in the city council.

Meanwhile, East Tapinac Brgy. Chairman Benjamin Franco was elected vice president of the association and New Cabalan Brgy. Chairman Audie Sundiam as auditor. Eight board members were also elected namely, Filipina Tablan of East Bajac-Bajac, Edgardo Gingco of Gordon Heights, Ricardo Federico of Kalaklan, Edgardo Danugrao, Jr. of Mabayuan, Amalia Corum of New Kababae, Eduardo Gloria of New Kalalake, Jimmy Pasag of Pag-asa and Rodrigo del Rosario of West Tapinac.

The Liga ng mga Barangay election was conducted last December 29, 2007 at the FMA Hall of the Olongapo City Hall.
