Groups hold caravan for humane working conditions at Hanjin Subic

The Church Labor Conference, a broad alliance of church congregations and labor organizations, held a Caravan for Decent Work and Humane Working Conditions on Sunday from Quezon City to Subic in Zambales.

In a statement, the group said that the event is in support of the Hanjin workers struggle for workplace safety and right to self-organization.

The event also aimed to draw attention to the strengthening of laws and implementation of reforms for better working conditions for Filipino workers in the country.

The group started their caravan from the Quezon City Circle and were met by Pampanga workers from Manggagawa para sa Kalayaan ng Bayan (Makabayan) and supporters from Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KPD).

The group held a short program at the Hanjin Subic Shipyard, which was followed by a mass led by Catholics Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines National Secretariat for Social Action Chairman Bp. Broderick Pabillo at Barangay Wawandue, Subic. By Ian Ocampo Flora - sunstar.com.ph
