‘GAPO DRIVE TO PROTECT THE YOUTH

The Olongapo City government has intensified its campaign against curfew violators, vagabonds and other offenders to keep the youth away from crime and instill peace and order.

With the joint forces of the Parks and Plazas Management Office (PPMO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO), and Office of Traffic Management and Public Safety (OTMPS), saturation drives are being conducted regularly in public places.

Primary areas of concern at present are the Rizal Triangle, Marikit Park, Volunteers’ Park and other recreational areas in the city.

In a recent drive, two (2) minors were caught in the act of smoking marijuana by police officers PO1 Christopher Viray, PO1 Jeffrey Gomez, and PO1 Ryan Sebarrotin, together with other two personnel from PPMO at the Rizal Triangle.

The two teenagers were immediately brought to the Olongapo City Center for Youth where they were made to undergo counseling sessions.

“No minors below eighteen (18) years old shall be allowed during curfew hours in the streets and public places such as bars, restaurants, playgrounds, parks, amusement centers, beaches and other similar establishments in the city, unless accompanied by their parents or adult guardians.
