‘GAPO JOINS GLOBAL WALK

Olongapo City has participated in the ANCOP (Answering the Cry of the Poor) Global Walk held simultaneously on August 21, 2011 across the world.

Various provinces and cities in the Philippines joined key cities in Australia, Asia and the Middle East and Africa in the walk that brought together thousands of participants to help the poorest of the poor.

“We share common goals with the CFC ANCOP, to help the poor and raise awareness and funds for them,” Mayor James Gordon, Jr. said.

Some 2,000 participants joined the walk which started from Marikit Park and ended at Boardwalk Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ).

City government employees and officials, SBMA officials and employees, private and public sector representatives and students from different colleges joined the Couple’s for Christ ANCOP, in the walk.

ANCOP is a registered non-profit foundation committed to alleviating poverty through a holistic community development program that includes education, health, livelihood, shelter and values formation.

Olongapo City Police Office led by P/S Supt. Christopher Tambungan awaits the start of the
Global walk at Marikit Park towards Boardwalk, Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). City officials
and employees, representatives from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) , students and
faculty of different Colleges and residents joined the walk on August 21, 2011 for the benefit
of the poor members of society.
