MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS

The Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) reported the arrest of the suspect in the murder of a trader and his family’s household help in less than 24 hours.

In a report to Olongapo Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr., OCPO City Director Police Senior Supt. Christopher Tambungan identified the suspect as Danilo Gidor, 42, a native of barangay Dau, San Jose, Northern Samar who is staying temporarily with a relative at Barangay Barreto in Olongapo.

Investigators said that Gidor was tagged by witnesses as suspect in the killing of local businessman Leon Ong, 50, and Leonisa Guerrero, 41 on November 21. 2011.

Gidor, identified as the common-law husband of Guerrero, was captured at Bgy. Barreto at 11:50 p.m. on November 21, some 20 hours after Ong and Guerrero were found dead with multiple stab wounds at Ong’s apartment in #45 18th St., East Bajac-Bajac.

Gidor is currently detained at OCPO Station 1. Police authorities filed two counts of murder against Gidor at the Olongapo City Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators said there are strong indications that the the killing was triggered by jealousy.

Mayor Gordon lauded the PNP for the immediate apprehension of the suspect.
“Pinatutunayan ng ating kapulisan sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mabilis na aksyon sa kasong ito na masigasig sila sa pagsisikap na mapanatili ang kapayapaan sa Olongapo,” Gordon said.

In a recent briefing for the City Peace and Order Council, the OCPO reported a 50% reduction in crime volume in the city, compared with last year.
