'Gapo launches "Ride a bike"
Over 300 residents, city governments employees, cycling enthusiasts, policemen, Traffic Management Board and socio-economic group personnel patricipated in the launching of "Ride a bike for progress and fitness" to promote physical fitness, energy conservation and tourism Sunday morning.
Mayor James "Bong" Gordon, Jr. led the group in making the rounds of the city to shocase the benefits that could be derived from bicycle riding. The group sang "I want to ride my bicycle" as they cruised through Barangay West Bajac-bajac, Sta Rita, Mabayuan, Kalaklan and East Bajac-Bajac.
Fun Riders Club of Olongapo, Olongapo-Subic Bay Cycling Club, San Antonio Cycling Club, and United Cyclist Group of Olongapo City, city officials and other bike enthusiasts joined the early morning ride that started at Rizal Triangle Park.
According to Gordon, bike riding can be a plus factor for tourism promotion especially now that Subic is hosting four eventsfor the SEA Games.
