SBMA inks pact with POC as major venue of Phil. Olympic fest
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE, June 22 Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Administrator Armand Arreza and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) Chair Roberto Aventajado recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) after the SBMA was chosen as one of the major venues for the Philippine Olympic Festival on June 18-25, 2006. Three sports competitions namely the National Target Archery Championships, the National Canoe-Kayak Open Championships and the FEI World Jumping Challenge (Equestrian) would be held in the Freeport. “This is the second time that we are hosting in part an international sports event.
We are very proud to host these three events here mainly because the Subic Bay Freeport is fast gaining the reputation of being a top venue for both national and international sporting events,” Arreza said. On the other hand, Aventajado lauded the SBMA for its eagerness to help host the first Philippine Olympic Festival, citing that “Subic is such an excellent venue for events like archery, canoe/kayak and equestrian.” The Philippine Olympic Festival 2006 is in line with the country’s observance of the founding of the World Olympic Movement and the International Olympic Committee.
