Mangio, Isip battle for top jet ski honors

JET SKI riders gear up for the final showdown for the titles at stake as the 2006 Petron National Jet Ski Series stages the championship round on Saturday at the Subic Waterfront Beach.

Michael Mangio and Alex Isip are in a close fight for the Novice Rider of the Year and are expected to go all out for the most important victory to boost their chances for the coveted plum of the event presented by Petron and sponsored by SBMA, Networx Jetsports, Gerry’s Grill, Courtyard Inn, Premiere Ready Mix, WOW! Jet Ski-Puerto Galera, Cars and Cycles Autocenter, Ford Global City, Dexterton, Atoy Body Kits, Alex Car Restoration Service, Subic Homes, Petron Lakeshore Toll Service Facility, HSD Iced Products and Hizon Laboratories.

Mangio, a 23-year-old executive of the Lakeshore Development Corporation, is eyeing third straight triumph that will push his bid for the top novice award and the title in the Novice 4-Strokes division against Robbie David and Jeremy Chua.

Isip, a former motocross star, is also gunning for the big feat in the Novice 2-strokes class against strong contenders Dax Figuroa, Fil-Am Neil Alvarez and JR Pineda.

Also favored in the other divisions are BJ Ang in the Expert Runabout 800 Open, former Mutya ng Pilipinas Darlene Carbungco in the Women’s Runabout, BJ Ang who’s favored in the Expert 800 class and Paul del Rosario who’s seeking the champion trophy in the Sport class, the Open Ski and the Expert 125 Unlimited.
