Olongapo village named 2006 Barangay of the Year

Olongapo Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. has turned over a plaque or recognition to officials of Bgy. Barretto here for bagging the “2006 Barangay of the Year Award.”

At a simple ceremony held at the city hall grounds, Gordon handed over the award to Chairman Carlito Baloy.

Gordon said the village had earlier gained the respect of other barangays for receiving the “Lupong Tagapamayapa & Peace and Order Incentives Award” for the Highly Urbanized Cities Category in the country.

Gordon said the plaque “illustrates the appreciation of the city government and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to Bgy. Barretto for its continuous achievements in harvesting recognitions from various government and non-government organizations in the country.”

Gordon also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the barangay for the effective implementation of various measures aimed at “propagating and strengthening the justice system in the barangay level that resulted in the immediate resolutions of problems being referred to them by the local residents.”

It was learned that the Gerry Roxas Foundation had recognized Bgy. Barretto through the “Gerry Roxas Foundation Award of Excellence” for effective implementation of barangay laws.

The plaque of recognition was signed by Gordon and DILG Region-3 Director Josefina Castilla-Go and DILG Secretary Ronaldo Puno.

DILG city director Eliseo de Guzman was present at the ceremony.

“Sana’y maging inspirasyon ang Bgy. Barretto sa iba pang barangay sa lungsod ng Olongapo,” De Guzman said.

  • Is this why Carlito Baloy attempts to sweep every complaint under the rug?

Is this why a racist attitude prevails at the barangay hall?

Is this why many of the "Tanods" are either drunk or high on Shabu nightly?

Is this why, since Carlito Baloy has been the barangay captain, crime & specifically Shabu use has skyrocketed?

All of this in an attempt to protect Carlito's precious barangay record so he can say he is No.1...all the while the residents of Barrio Barretto suffer from the injustices of a corrupt barangay. Don't believe me? Conduct your own investigation.

"Barangay of the year?" I doubt the people here would agree with that.
