22 planes diverted to Subic due to rains
At least 22 planes were diverted to land at the Subic Bay International Airport amid strong rains in Manila, radio station dzBB reported Friday.
The report quoted Chief Superintendent Atilano Morada of the police's Aviation Security Group as saying that the aircraft, which came from Taiwan and South Korea, were scheduled to land at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.
Monsoon rains worsened by typhoon "Egay" (international name: Sepat) continued to fall in Metro Manila on Friday.
Initial reports said the aircraft included ten from the Far Eastern Transport, eight from the Trans Asia Airlines, and four from Mandarin Airlines.
The report added that the flights are considered "evacuation or emergency flights."
This developed as two scheduled flights of the Philippine Airlines (Manila-Japan and Japan-Manila flights) were canceled. -GMANews.TV
