US Marines from Across the Nation Meet in Wheeling

The annual event allows the Marines to reminisce on their service at a SubicBay in the Philippines.

WHEELING -- Current and retired United States Marines met Saturday night at Stratford Springs Restaurant.

The one thing the group of marines that met has in common is their service at Subic Bay. Subic Bay was a U.S. naval base on the southern tip of Luzan in the Philippines. The group of marines guarded the base over the years.

The base was an important outpost for the U.S Navy.

This annual event was held in San Diego last year. Each year the annual meeting is moved around the country so marines from all over can attend the event.
