Smuggled chocolates seized in Subic

Authorities seized Thursday boxes of illegally-shipped imported chocolates being smuggled out of Subic Bay Freeport, radio dzMM reported.

Senior Superintendent Abelardo Villacorte, Olongapo City police chief, said police found the shipment inside an L-300 van (ADL 956) after receiving a tip. He said the chocolates were placed inside three boxes, which were covered with umbrellas.

A certain Efren Sevilla, the driver of the van, said he was only told to get the boxes from a Duty Free shop.

Olongapo City police are currently investigating the incident, and have turned over the chocolates to the Bureau of Customs.
