MAYOR BONG GORDON AT REX SMITH SA CITY HALL

Nagharap ang dalawang (2) music idols na sina City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. at ang balladeer na si Rex Smith sa Olongapo City Hall nitong ika-16 ng Pebrero 2008.

Sa lobby pa lamang ay mainit ng sinalubong ni Mayor Gordon at mga nag-aabang na department heads, employees at fans ang pagdalaw sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon ng singer sa lungsod kaugnay sa self-titled concert sa Subic Bay Exhibition & Convention Center (SBECC) sa Freeport Zone.

Masayang nagpalitan ng musical ideas, interest at experiences sina Mayor Gordon at ang foreign singer at bago nagkahiwalay ay nagpalitan rin nang compact disk (CD) na naglalaman ng kanya-kanyang pinasikat na awitin na may personal signature. Sa concert, ay inimbitahan ni Mr. Smith si Mayor Gordon para sa song number na pinaunlakan naman ng punong-lungsod.

Si Rex Smith, sa batang edad ay sumikat nang huling bahagi ng taong 1970’s at umangat bilang teen idol na paulit-ulit na lumabas sa mga sikat na teen-mag na ‘’16 magazine’’ at ‘’Tiger Beat.’’ Tuluyang nakilala noong 1979 si Smith dahil sa hit single na ‘’You Take My Breath Away’’ na pumasok pa sa American Billboard Hot 100.

Tumanggap si Smith ng kanyang first platinum-selling album ‘’Sooner or Later.’’ Nagsimula naman ang kanyang television career bilang motorcycle officer na Jesse Mach sa ‘’Streer Hawk’’ series at may mga guest appearances rin sa tv shows na ‘’The Love Boat’’ at ‘’ Baywatch’’.

Simula 1976 hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay may labing-isang (11) album na si Rex Smith na lahat ay patok sa mga mahihilig sa ballad s0ngs.
