OLONGAPO CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH
The women of Olongapo City welcomed the celebration of the International Women’s Month with a colorful parade on March 4.
First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Gordon, also the chairman of the Olongapo City Women’s Council led the parade participated in by more than one thousand (1,000) representatives of different women’s groups in the city, such as BUKLOD, SUGPO, BALIKATAN, Olongapo Mahal Ko Foundation and the Federation of Senior Citizens.
Female officials of the local and national government agencies accompanied by barangay officials and students from elementary, high school and colleges also joined in the said parade.
After the long parade, a program followed at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center graced by Etta Rosales, Chairman Emeritus of the Akbayan Party List and President of the Institute for Political Electoral Reform.
During the program, residents queued at activity booths at Rizal Triangle which offered services such as jobs fair, free medical and dental services, mobile birth registration, trade fair and free hair cut.

More than five (500) hundred persons benefitted from the medical services while two hundred (200) persons availed of the dental services. More than one hundred persons also brought home raffle gifts.

Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice Gov. Anne Marie Gordon awarding a Financial Capital Assistance to one of its recipient during the city’s International Women’s Day celebration last March 4, 2008 at Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center. With Ms. Gordon are Olongapo City Women’s Council officials, Vice Mayor Cynthia Cajudo, City Councilor Ellen Dabu and PESO Manager Evelyn delos Santos.
