OLONGAPO CITY: Police authorities arrested on Monday a man posing as a police official and victimizing several residents. Olongapo City Police Office Director Police Senior Supt. Abelardo Villacorta identified the suspect as Gilberto Obien, 33, of Barangay Gordon Heights. “The suspect was formerly as asset of the drug enforcement unit,” Villacorta explained.” When the unit was disbanded, Obien went on to pose as a police officer arresting civilians and threatening to put them in jail unless they paid him off. “The suspect has a brother identified as Police Inspector Christopher Obien who is now stationed in Bulacan. Formal changes have been filed against the impostor.
