WANTED: CRUISE SHIP CREW
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. during the Flag Raising Ceremony last June 02 at the Rizal Triangle Multi Purpose Center announced that ‘The Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. is still in search for applicants for the Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises.
Positions needed are Cook (Hot, Pantry, and Cold), Bakers and Butchers.
“Batid natin ang galing sa pagluluto nating mga Filipino. Maliban dito isang malaking hamon rin sa atin ang makahalubilo ang mga dayuhang may iba’t ibang kultura. Patunay lamang ito na kaya nating maka-adjust sa kultura ng ibang bansa habang ginagawa ang mga trabahong may expertise tayo,” Mayor Gordon added.
According to the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the qualifications for the said positions are as follows:
1. Candidates should be willing to work in a multi-cultural environment onboard cruise ships;
2. Must possess friendly and pleasing personality and with excellent command of English;
3. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked at least 2 years onboard a luxury cruise line;
4. A minimum of 2 years related experience from Local/International Hotels and Restaurants will be considered in lieu of shipboard experience.
PESO through its head Evelyn delos Santos conducted a Special Recruitment Activity last May 30, 2008 for the cruise ship ‘job vacancies’.
Applicants who qualified were then interviewed by the employers of the company.
