BB. OLONGAPO SWIMSUIT COMPETITION
The swimsuit competition and press conference of Bb. Olongapo 2008 was held on September 13, 2008 at the Wild Orchid Hotel in Baloy Beach, Barretto, Olongapo City. The eighteen (18) lovely candidates paraded in their swimsuit and cocktail dresses in the pre-pageant competition.
City Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. and Zambales Vice Governor at Olongapo First Lady Anne Marie Gordon graced the evening’s ceremonies. Also present were Vice Mayor Cynthia Cajudo, Councilors Gina Perez, Edwin Piano and Nathan Manalo and other city officials.
“Tourism is our main industry and we should promote our city,” said Mayor Gordon said in his message. “Hopefully, we can attract more investors to come here kaya we must take care of our tourism industry.”
Mayor Gordon also proudly announced the numerous awards and recognitions that the city has received the past few months including the ‘Most Competitive Medium Sized City’ award from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Policy Center.
Timmiko Santos was hailed as Ms. Wild Orchid while Angelee Claudette Delos Reyes placed 2nd and Glachelle Mattias settled for the third place. The candidate hailed as Ms. Wild Orchid won a one night stay for two in the Wild Orchid Hotel.
The candidate adjudged as ‘Best in Swimsuit’ will be announced on October 26, 2008 at the Olongapo City Convention Center (OCCC).
A press conference was held at the reception area of the Hotel after the presentation.
The candidates gamely anwered questions about their views on different topics which included environmental issues, politics and other socially-relevant issues in Olongapo City. They were also asked about their achievements and community relations experience prior to joining the competition.
The talent night of Bb. Olongapo will be held on October 4, 2008.
