MOTHER LOCATES DAUGTHER

Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr., through his ‘Miz Mo Na Ba?’ project, helped Fransisca Lunasco, of Sta. Rita, Olongapo City, locate her daughter whom she had last contact with some twenty (20) years ago.

Lunasco and her daughter Rhodora Wong have been trying to locate Lea Ghormley for the past twenty (20) years and have been asking the help of many institutions and politicians to help but to no avail.

Ghormley worked as a nurse in the U.S. where she eventually married and established a family.

Lunasco occasionally gets news about her daughter through their relatives but they never communicated directly because no one could provide Ghormley’s address or contact number.

Lunasco wrote a letter to Mayor Gordon and asked him if he could assist in locating her daughter. After months of searching for phone numbers and addresses, the Office of Mayor Gordon, led by Attorney Bernardine S. Gatan, Executive Secretary V of Mayor Gordon, were able to locate Ghormley and acquired her current phone number and address.

On September 03, 2008, Lunasco and Ghormley were finally able to talk to each other, thanks to Mayor Gordon’s “Miz Mo Na Ba?” project that provides free telephone calls for Olongapenos to relatives overseas.

Although the phone call was brief, the tearful Lunasco was very relieved and thankful that she was finally able to talk to her daughter once again.
