Subic homeowners score cops in raid
Homeowners in a posh subdivision in Subic, Zambales yesterday denounced the questionable action of at least five policemen from Olongapo City who reportedly stormed the residential enclave Friday and arrested eight subdivision guards for no apparent reason.
The homeowners said the local police force is apparently condoning the illegal arrest, and has consented to detain the guards even if charges have not been filed. The guards remain in detention at the Subic police station.
“They showed no warrant or any document when they arrested our subdivision guards. They didn’t show us any respect either, when they manhandled our guards and herded them like animals into the police cars,” said Merly Roque, President of the Magdalena Homeowners Association in Barangay Sto.Tomas, Subic.
The homeowners said they are planning to file criminal and administrative cases against the Olongapo policemen led by a certain Major Sta. Maria whom they said had no jurisdiction over the Magdalena Homes Subdivision.
The arrested security guards belong to the Goodman Security Agency that was contracted by the homeowners association.
Roque said the Olongapo policemen likewise installed a new set of security guards from the Super Merchant Security Agency, which she said has no service contract with the association.
The association also questioned the continued detention of their security guards. They said no charges have been filed.
