BOOK DONATIONS FOR CITY LIBRARY
Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. expressed appreciation to several donors of various books and magazines to the City Public Library recently. During the flag raising ceremony, he said that giving books is like sharing knowledge to others.
“In behalf of the people of Olongapo, I’d like to thank all of you for your unending support to the city government and the city library,” Mayor Gordon said.
Most of the reference materials donated to the library are related to nursing. Mayor Gordon believes that the additional nursing books will help the nursing students of Gordon College and other colleges in the city.
“For students who cannot afford to buy books , this is a good opportunity for them to make use of our books for research, we have a wide variety of books especially on Nursing,” City Librarian Beth Daduya said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Gordon is encouraging all Olongapeños to support the city library by donating more reference materials for the students of Olongapo.
The reference materials were donated by Mr. Roger and Mariafe Peterson, Mr. Ricardo Chua, Mr. and Mrs. Roberto & Emalyn Daduya and daughters Kristine and Jasmine. New Fiction books(6), New Magazines for Small and Medium Enterprises(4), Nursing Magazines(88), periodicals and books were some of the reference materials available to the public.
The City Library is open to the public from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. For donations, contact Beth Daduya, city librarian at telephone number 224-8634.
