Fifty-five(55) Day Care Centers in Olongapo City are all set for the celebration of the 34th Foundantion Day of the Day Care Center Service Program on February 26-27, 2009 at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Covered Court.

More or less 3,000 participants are expected to join the opening parade including representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd), Gordon College, Barangay Officials, Early Childhood Care and Development Center, parents and students.

City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Head Gene Eclarino will spearhead the event which will showcase cheering, singing and dancing competitions on both parents and students. “Our primary aim in putting up day care centers all over the city is to produce bright children, and to establish enthusiasm on the part of the children and develop better bonding with their parents,” Eclarino said.

It can be recalled that the initiative of Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. with the help of the day care workers, parents and the local government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office(CSWDO) more day care centers have been established in the city since then.

Mayor Bong Gordon received from Asst. DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol the plaque and cheque worth fifty thousand pesos (P50,000.00) as the cities incentives to the 2007 Child-friendly City-Highly Urbanized City Category.
