MEDIATION CENTER IN OLONGAPO SOON TO OPEN
The launching of the Mediation Process in resolving court cases in Olongapo City will be on June 1, 2009, the first time in the history of the City.
In an interview over Subic Broadcasting Corporation dwGO AM radio, Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Head Executive Judge Norman V. Pamintuan explained the benefits of resolving disputes through mediation process.
“Mediation is a process of dispute resolution that involves a trained acceptable, impartial and neutral third party or what we call mediator, an officer of the court who works with both sides of the dispute in an informal discussion,” said judge Pamintuan.
“It covers many criminal and civil cases such as Extra-Judicial Settlement of Estate of the deceased; cases under summary procedures; quasi offenses such as violation of motor vehicle law and cases relating to Batas Pambansa 22 like bounced check,” Pamintuan said.
According to Pamintuan, the process is very simple that both parties will spend less time and money while solving the case in a short span of time. Each session lasts an average of one hour to three hours.
Meanwhile, Judge Pamintuan also revealed the issue on regular visitation of the Olongapo Judges in the different precincts in the city for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of the prisoners as well as an improved implementation of the judicial system in Olongapo City.
