PMMA Zambales on top of successful Marine Deck Officers Licensure Exam

Marine Deck Officers Licensure Examination Results Released

MANILA, Philippines - The prevailing shortage of marine officers is likely to continue for sometime.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) today reported that only half of the more than 4,000 examinees passed the written phase of the marine deck officers’ licensure examination.

Out of 4,318 examinees, PRC said a total of 2,253 passed the written phase of the licensure examination for various ranks given by the Board for Marine Deck Officers in Manila this month.

PRC added that a total of 245 examinees are exempted from taking the practical examinations as they opted to submit a certificate of training and certificate of assessment in the Ship Simulator and Bridge Teamwork (SSBT).

For the written phase of the chief mate licensure examination, the top 10 examinees are Renier Taytayon Ebales, of the Namei Polytechnic Institute, 90.40 percent; Jose Jr. Apelanio Bureros, University of Cebu, Jerry Pansoy Cambay, FEATI University and Michiel Patoc Domingo, Philippine Merchant Marine Academy-Zambales, all 86.80; Filomeno Jr. Saranza Gulde, University of Cebu, 86.20; Cesar Habon Gamuyod, PMI-Manila, 86; Ernie Anjao Catalonia, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod City, 85.80; Danny de los Reyes Demecais, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Iloilo City, 85.20; Ireneo Rin Magpatoc Jr., University of Cebu, Lemuel Donguines Panaguiton, MTC College-Iloilo, Rey Militante Rebenque, University of Cebu, and Alberto Hoggang Tayaban, PMMA-Zambales, all 85; Jesus Reyes Dipasupil, Lyceum of Batangas, 84.80; Joseph de la Pena Bergosa, Saint Joseph Institute of Technology-Butuan, 84.60 and Vincent Dayot Galon, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod City, 84.20.

Meantime, those who led the written phase of the O.I.C.-N.W. licensure examination were Ryan Aungon Alojamiento of the Aklan Polytechnic Institute, 91.80; Clifford Jumuad Jalagna, PMMA-Zambales, 90.90; Jose Marvin Alejo Acas, Dipolog City Institute of Technology, 90.50; Rajhess Moleno Aidal, Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 89.60; Francisco Jr. Avila Balesa, PMI-Manila, 89.50; Aldrin Precia Sanchez, Northern Philippines College for Maritime and Technological Studies, 89.40; Bernard Oquindo Mateo, Palawan Polytechnic College Inc., 89.30; Ricky Arambala Fiel, Zamboanga del Sur Maritime Institute of Technology, 89.20; Jurdan Francis Palmiano Bagano, University of Cebu, Ryan Maniego Crisostomo, PMI-Manila, and Larry Sibya Serrano, Saint Therese-MTC Colleges-Tigbauan, all 89.10; Jerremy James Anlap Lanzaderas, Capitol University (Cagayan Capitol College), 88.90 percent.

Registration for the issuance of certificate of registration and professional identification cards for those who are exempted from the practical assessment will be from Wednesday, July 22 to Aug. 5.

Those who opted to submit a certificate of assessment in the SSBT will take their oath before the Board on Aug. 19, 1 p.m. at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.

Registration for membership with the Masters and Mates Association of the Philippines, Inc. (MMAP) will also start on July 22.

Earlier, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported that the government is doubling its efforts to generate more highly skilled Filipino marine officers to fill the projected high demand for such skills abroad. By Mayen Jaymalin - PhilStar
