CITY ENHANCES CLEAN UP DRIVE AT PARKS AND PLAZAS IN GAPO
Olongapo City Mayor James Gordon, Jr. has been repeatedly urging the people of Olongapo to continue working for the cleanliness of the city.“A clean environment has a clean and healthy residents,” he said.
The ongoing clean-up drive of parks and plazas particularly the Rizal Triangle Park has been the focus of the Parks and Plazas Management Office (PPMO) headed by Jhobal Sebarrotin which aims to keep up the good name, and preservation of the said areas.
Mayor Gordon, tasked Sebarrotin to take the lead in the rehabilitation of the Rizal Triangle Park with the formation of a composite team including the Barangay, PPMO, CSWDO, VMAT, OTMPS and the PNP. Likewise, ESMO will take charge of the waste segregation, PUD for the lightings, trimming of trees and installation of electric wirings, City Library and the Public Affairs Office for the information campaign materials.
“We should take the lead in informing the public that the city government will strictly enforce the ordinance on Anti-Littering and proper use of Parks,” Mayor Gordon said, adding “that the clean-up drive will significantly help eliminate putting up of illegal structures, littering, loitering, sleeping and dwelling in the area and the conduct of illegal businesses.”
Sebarrotin said that the PNP will conduct saturation drives and patrols every night to monitor the area for the purpose of driving off pimps, mendicants, nomads and illegal vendors.
The City Ordinance No.8 Series of 1980 or the Anti-littering Ordinance which impose fines and/or imprisonment on violators was passed by the City Council in 1980.
