Olongapo City YMCA Marathon

The YMCA marathon this morning was a huge success. More than three thousand runners participated in the 5k and 3k fun run. Mayor Bong Gordon fired the starting gun while councilors Edwin Piano and Rodel Cerezo (YMCA President) did the honor of giving awards to the winners.

The friendly race is an annual undertaking of YMCA were participants are taking part for enjoyment and a chance to exercise rather than taking it as a serious competition. There are categories for wearing costumes (I saw batman, spiderman, a princess and one in green which I was not able to recognize.) There is also a category for oldest and youngest runners.

Fun Run is in support of the YMCA'a Building Strong Kids Program. This program encourages the healthy growth and development of Olongapo's youth.

Participating in this event is not only fun and healthy, it's providing an important foundation for our youth that will have far reaching benefits for them, their families and our community.
Councilors Ed Piano and Rodel Cerezo awarding medals to the youngest female and male participants, notice the runner-up at the background (appears to be complaining he he)

We uploaded marathon's video clips at youtube for your viewing pleasure
