Typhoon Pepeng Advisory

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. is advising the constituents of Olongapo to be alert and monitor the weather forecast in connection with ‘Typhoon Pepeng’’.

This, after the weather bureau said that ‘Typhoon Pepeng’’ (with international name PARMA) could develop into a super typhoon as it make landfall in Northern Luzon tomorrow.

“According to PAG-ASA, it could raise the storm signal no. 4 at 215 kph by 11 pm today over Northern Luzon if the typhoon will continue to strengthen,” said Mayor Gordon. “We hope and pray that this typhoon will slow down so that we may be spared from the possible catastrophe it may bring,” he added.

“Signal no. 4 means that residential and commercial buildings may be severely damaged, large trees uprooted, and power and communications lines may be cut. So we are advising Olongapeños to prepare for the worst. Store potable water, food supplies, medicines and avoid low-lying and land-slide prone areas,” Mayor Gordon advised.

Classes in the city has already been suspended as of 12:00 pm today to ensure the safety of students.

Meanwhile, Mayor Gordon has already tasked the members of the City Disaster Coordinating Council to monitor and prepare for the impending super typhoon.
